Veruschka

Isn't is amusing to think that when this vixen started out tall models weren't even considered desirable in Paris? Well 6'1" Veruschka sure showed them! She is an absolute stunner and one hell of a fashion icon to boot. Her book is another one I've added to my wish list for the winter. Despite spending her childhood living in great wealth on an enormous estate it tells the tale of her dramatic and sad upbringing after her father was executed for attempting to assassinate Hitler when she was 5 years old. After his death the remaining family members spent their time in labour camps until the end of World War II when her family was left penniless and carries right on from there to her rise to fame. I think it'd be a fascinating read, don't you?

  11. She is stunning and her life story sounds fascinating.
But the first supermodel was modelling in the 1930's (30 years before Veruschka got her break) her name was Lisa Fossagrives who was popular shortly before Sofia Loren
