Wants versus Needs

I have great difficulty distinguishing needs over wants. Which is probably why there’s a huge stack of (unread) magazines in my apartment but no milk. Here are a few of my current needs and wants. See if you can tell which one’s which

Plane ticket home for the wedding

Chanel snowboard

Bass Guitar

Skateboard decks to put up on walls of my room

Contact lenses

Bloch flats

Huffer Hoodie

Microwave

Digital SLR Camera

Petrol

Space invaders wall decal

30th Anniversary present for parents

Aren't the wants so much prettier than the needs? I'm sure by next week these will be completely different. Or should I say, my wants will be completely different and my needs will probably not have changed at all.

Totally addicted to...

I don't really know if "addictions" is the word I'm looking for, maybe "obsessions" would be more fitting. Anyways I think that just like inspirations can shape and mould our personalities addictions can do the same job. They can change how people view us, be embarrassing, use up all our time and resources all the while building character. Sure they may be bad for you as well but I think most of mine are pretty tame and just a bit of fun. Here's a few of my current addictions:

Magazines

Cameras

Ed Hardy

Juicy Tracksuits

The Hills

Blunt Fringes

Reading Blogs

My favourite is the last one. I find people absolutely fascinating and so being able to read blogs about their interests and what's going on in their life is just amazing... especially ones with pretty and fun pictures. :]

Also I'm excited to say I'm finally booking an appointment at the hair dressers on Thursday to finally get that blunt fringe I've longed all summer for.

This is Blythe

The original Blythe doll was manufactured by Kenner in 1972. The Blythe doll was designed by Marvin Glass & Associates, one of the world's foremost toy design studios.

In 1972, children found the large eyes that changed from green to pink to blue to orange with the pull of the drawstring at the back of Blythe's head a bit on the scary side. Blythe was produced for only one year, but it is now apparent that she was ahead of her time

These dolls are unlike any I’ve ever owned and I find there’s something almost magical about them which is why I continue to buy them. These are a few photos I found which I think captures the vast difference and loveliness you find in these little beauties

Obsessively obsessed

One of my friends made a comment over the weekend that I tend to obsess over a lot of things. I took it as a compliment even though I don't think it was really intended as one. My latest obsession is, you could say, interior design. Not so much through the house yet but particularly my room. I think this partly due to discovering theselby.com. I love the idea of being able to peer into other peoples homes and I find with this website I'm captivated by every single photo. Not like an interior design mag we're I'll skim over pretty much everything in the shop and not even purchase the damn thing. So here are some of my favourites.

Aren't they wonderful?

As you can see from my selection there isn't much of a recurring theme but I don't think there's anything wrong in mixing it up a little. I'll probably stick to a very minimalistic theme with bold colours like red and black but will be definitely pinching ideas from here. Stay posted and I may even let you peer into my home in the near future...

Sum yourself up in:

a picture
a poem
a song or piece of music
a phrase or quote
an item of clothing
a place,a Disney princess...
let the games begin!

The picture

The poem

I am crazy enough to jump off a bridge for you,
Even when I have seen you only once.
I am crazy enough to still be thinking about you,
Even when I know nothing of you at all.
Crazy enough to build castles in the sky,
Crazy enough to imagine you and me,
Crazy enough to never see
The lie of you.

The song or piece of music

There's a song I was listening to up all night
There's a voice I'm hearing saying it's alright
When I'm happy I am sad but everything's good
It's not that complicated I'm just misunderstood

The phrase or quote

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm

- R Emerson

The item of clothing,

You'll never catch me wearing trousers so a dress is very me,
something a little pretty but not too over the top

The place

Gold Coast, Australia

The Disney princess
